It’s The Most Wonderful Time…

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

School starts in 31 days. Now, I know that makes me sound like a bad mom—I really do enjoy spending time with my kids, but there is the whole “schedule” thing to look forward to. Going to bed at the same time, getting up at the same time, having one child at home for 6 hours a day to keep the house clean! I know, I’m bad—but this year there is something pretty cool I just found out. I’ve been looking for insurance for the kids, and I just found out that we can get student short term health insurance NC for the school year. That may just solve all of the problems we’ve been having.

I will find out more at registration…but until then…I’m giddy!

Road Trip

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

We are getting ready to hit the road next week. I have found several books on tape from the library, and even located all of my sd cards for my camera. I just need to juice up the mini DVD players, rent the car and pack–and we’ll be on our way!

Have you ever used books on tape while driving long distance? I’m a little nervous that it will make me sleepy–as normal reading always puts me to sleep. But with 20 hours ahead of us…I’m hoping it works like a charm!

Twins

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

My older brother was blessed with twin girls 10 years ago. When they were born they were so easy to tell apart. We just assumed that they were fraternal twins. But as they got older it became harder and harder to tell them apart, and last year we took one look at their school photo’s and wondered why the parents bothered paying for two sets…they looked like the same picture. So my brother and his wife took the girls to the doctor for a chromosomal DNA testing and shocker of shockers (not really), they really are identical twins. Honestly, before the age of 2 no one thought they were. Now, there was just no question!

Covering The Kids

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

I have been looking for low cost health insurance the last couple of months. We have the kids covered under my husband’s plan, but in the next couple of months the premiums are set to go up drastically. So we are thinking about finding a good plan for just the kids. Lower prices, higher deductibles we are fine with that. We mainly only use the insurance to cover doctor visits to register for school or when they are really…really sick. But because I don’t want to tempt fate–they have to be covered, because the moment they aren’t…something bad will definitely happen!

Car Parts

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Do you remember several months back when I was complaining about my son’s desire to find Ferrari parts for his Pinewood Derby car? Well—I talked him out of it for the race with the promise that someday in the future I would search hobby shops with him and we would build a NEW car!

Well, I thought that was a brilliant diversion until now–4 months later, when he suddenly remembered the “plan” and is now begging to head out looking for parts. Now it isn’t that I wouldn’t LOVE to build a new car—well, yes it is…I have no desire. But since his request is followed by the “You Promised” (famous last lines) I’m thinking tomorrow after breakfast–we’ll head out!

Wish me luck!

Delia Is Here

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

This past week my sister was put in the hospital to have her first baby. Everything seemed to be going downhill for the last couple of weeks, not only with her and her blood pressure–but the baby’s heart beat has been unstable. So she has been in the hospital since Monday the 13th of July, and just 2 days ago she gave birth to a beautiful little girl named Delia. She’s been bedridden for so long that all she needs is the baby’s picture and to add her stats and the birth announcements are ready to mail.

After a couple of harrowing weeks, I can honestly say, I’m so glad they are both out of harms way—and healthy!

I Missed It All

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Why is it when you spend a couple of weeks away from your kids–and then you come back and you catch everything going around the elementary school? We got home last week from our trip and everything seemed fine–until Monday! I have been so sick since then, I’m honestly wondering if there is an internal organ that still desires to be a part of my body! I have thrown up, coughed up everything I’ve tried to eat since then. I missed every single event at our local street festival/carnival. I know to most people that isn’t a big deal, but to me–it’s my favorite time of the year. I thought I would just push and get there–but there was just no way possible. If I was upright I was sweating and faint and vomiting. If I was sitting up, I was sweating and faint and coughing–either way–they wouldn’t have let me anywhere near the school!

Maybe next year!

It’s Working

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

I have lost 25 pounds! I know, it’s amazing! Funny how when you have tons to lose 25 doesn’t look like much, but when you don’t have a lot to lose–it’s drastic. Sadly, I’m in the “doesn’t look like much” category! But thanks to the best diet pills ever, I’m hoping to drop even more. Maybe 50 will look better???

A lot of this is baby weight, so it should come off pretty quick—but for some people in my family–it doesn’t matter where the weight came from–it’s not going anywhere!! I’ll post my before and after pics as soon as I hit my goal!
