Accounts Payables…My Favorite!

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

My husband bought tickets last week to a Chicago Blackhawk’s hockey game. My boys were so excited to be able to go, and VERY disappointed when he let them know that he wasn’t taking them, he was using the tickets as a way to re-connect with a friend he had lost contact with.

What a fun night he had. It was as though no time had passed between these two. They even talked about me! It seems this boy works in my favorite field…accounts payable. My husband let him know that I would DIE for his job, and he practically offered it to me! Turns out, he’s looking for jobs in finance and will most likely be leaving his current job if he finds something. Now, with this economy, he may not—and with my youngest only 4 years old, it’s not the most opportune time. But oh, how fun it was to think back to my days as the old A.P.!!

More From D

We had the birthday party for my 21 year old niece here last night. We are the only ones with a house big enough for all of the family, and with 21 being such a “big” birthday, they wanted everyone invited. We love this girl. Really we do. She’s a kind of “drama queen” like I’ve never seen. It isn’t so much that she creates the drama. Drama just seems to have an uncanny ability to find her. For instance…her biggest gift of the night was from her dad, a Garmin GPS system. She was so excited about it–apparently she spends quite a bit of her life lost! So before leaving the house she gushed about how she had programmed our address and her address, and she was just going to follow the directions all the way home.

1.5 hours later, we got a call from her dad. He’d left quite awhile after her, and she still hadn’t made it home. He was wondering if she’d come back to our house for something. NOPE…..she failed to switch her directions to “quickest route” or “highway” and it was pre-set on “WALK”. By the time she figured out that it was messed up…she was totally lost!

See…DRAMA!

Summer Plans

I have been looking at the possibility of getting this family to Sea World this summer! I’ve tracked down the cheapest airfare, even found an affordable San Diego airport hotel. The only thing holding us back is trying to get our schedule (I’m a stay at home mom with four kids out of school for the summer…we have no schedule) to jive with my work-a-holic husband’s! He refuses to take too much time off of work. You know, I respect that–but puh-lease! I’m not paying thousands of dollars for a quick weekend trip across the country. Maybe if we still lived in Arizona…but definitely NOT happening from Chicago!

A Chance To Get Away…

…If only for a few hours!

We were watching an old movie last night with the kids. It was one where the family heads out to a fabulous beach rental for the summer. Their days are filled with family fun, their nights with cookouts and toasted marshmallows next to the surf. Everything was perfect, there were no kids fighting, no bugs…just pure family fun. I would love to find something like that for my family. Outer Banks Rentals offers properties in North Carolina, which sounds like a charming place to visit. It’s always more work for the mom though. Laundry and packing for everyone. Cooking and cleaning, and you know my kids will kill each other and there will be a ton of bugs!! Ok, maybe not the bugs, I’m not sure I’m up for too much family time with MY family! Isn’t that so sad! They are good kids, and I’m sure they would have a great time–as long as they stay 3 feet away from each other!!
